Happy Thursday! Today is a super dreary day in Dallas, and what better way to combat it than with this sunrise smoothie recipe?! The deliciousness of this smoothie is bound to put a smile on your face, regardless of the weather outside. Even though deep down, I wish it would rain every day. Thunderstorms are LIFE [insert praise hands.]
We have a fun weekend ahead! Chris’ mom is staying with us this weekend and we are planning to cook new recipes all weekend long. However, the oven did decide to crap out on us this week, so non-baked recipes might be on the agenda. Does anyone have a gas oven that just stopped igniting on them suddenly? Chris wants to throw a match in there, but I honestly don’t feel like blowing up our entire house or dying for that matter. Our house did get struck by lightning a few weeks ago and that’s about all I can handle right now. Yes, you read that correctly, our house got struck by lightning – no big deal. I wish there was a class to take on “Shit that can (and will) happen the first year you own a house.”
Another exciting thing, Save the Dates are being mailed this weekend! Since we are having a destination wedding, sending out Save the Dates 8-9 months in advance was recommended. That means one more thing is about to be crossed off the wedding to-do list. I can’t wait to show y’all the finished product! We had them designed at By Invitation Only in my hometown and my SUPER talented friend, Abigail Arnold, did the calligraphy. If you need an amazing calligrapher, she is your girl! And I must mention that her husband, Tyler Arnold, is an unbelievable artist. Seriously, the best! Not only are their children going to be drop dead gorgeous, but they will be crazy talented as well.
Lastly, Chris and I are making our home improvement to-do list with major priorities that need to be done around the house, as well as wants. For instance, my top priority is to re sod our backyard, his top priority is building a putting green in the backyard along with installing a TV outside for football season. Wish me luck.
I hope y’all have a great weekend! I know with school starting and busy season kicking in, you busy mommas and worker bees will need a quick recipe on-the-go! And this is where the sunrise smoothie comes into play, and it’s even Whole30!

Whole 30 Sunrise Smoothie
1/4 cup of egg white protein powder
A scoop of Vital Proteins collagen peptides
One nectarine peeled and cubed
1 cup of sliced strawberries
1 1/2 cups of frozen bananas slices (If your bananas get too ripe, instead of throwing them out, peel & slice them. Then store in the freezer for smoothies. I ALWAYS have these in my freezer.)
1/4 cup of unsweetened almond milk. If you are doing Whole30, this is tricky as most almond milk (even unsweetened) have some type of sugar hidden in the ingredients. I found MALK at Whole Foods and it worked perfectly.
The juice of 1 orange
*Add a couple cubes of ice or water if needed to reach your preferred consistency.
Top with shredded unsweetened coconut flakes, chia seeds and VIOLA!
As always, I LOVE to hear feedback on my recipes! I can’t wait to hear what y’all think!
